A great way to introduce using maps to kids, is to get a map from a park that you go to, and let the kids look at it and explore it.

We get maps from Disneyland, the campground we normally go to, and anywhere else we can. The kids just love them. It introduces basic map skills, and also encourages a real interest in exploring maps. My kids love maps - we put them up in their bedrooms, and sometimes in the hallways of our house.

They're just fun!

The older kids look up driving directions for us when we're visiting someplace new, by logging onto Mapquest
