Back to getting kids to write --

My daughter won a prize when she was 5 years old for a lovely little poem she wrote.

I took an art book full of lovely photographs of famous paintings. I had the kids each select one picture that really inspired them. Then, they wrote a poem or story about it.

My daughter, at the age of 5, concisely captured the spirit of "Starry Night". She wrote:


"Starry, starry night -
Like a wave in flight."

I thought it was brilliant. And she won an award for it!
