As Scientologists, we participate in Scientology celebrations. These occur every few months. One of them is the celebration of L. Ron Hubbard's birthday.

When we are in Los Angeles, we attend a big event at the Shrine Auditorium for this. It's always packed to the rafters, and everyone dresses up. It's a great opportunity for my daughters to wear long, velvet or ruffly dresses - they love it!

There is generally talk about Hubbard's life and accomplishments, and sometimes one particular time period of his life is explored in detail.

Successes of our churches and missions are celebrated.

Afterwards, we go to the ballroom where there is food (including birthday cake, of course), and a chance to visit with friends.

This is one of my favorite holidays of the year!
